PROSPECT THINKS PINK FOR CANCER RESEARCH

The Fairfield Pink Ribbon Morning Tea, hosted by local Federal MP Chris Bowen and Fairfield RSL, has been another unqualified success, raising over $2,600 for the National Breast Cancer Foundation to assist them in their breast cancer research. “This is now our second Pink Ribbon Morning Tea, and with almost 300 local residents this year, the event is growing from strength to strength,” said Chris Bowen. Residents were greatly moved by the story of Pink Ribbon Ambassador, Amanda Maltabarow, who has fought breast cancer since she was diagnosed with invasive breast cancer in 2002, at the age of 44. “Breast cancer has touched the lives of many families throughout our local community and unfortunately the incidence of breast cancer is increasing.” “But through events such as this we can support organisations like the National Breast Cancer Foundation in the fight against breast cancer.” “Past support from the community has been vital in making improvements in treatment and research; so that survival rates are now on the rise.” “We’d like to acknowledge the contribution by local business: La Tratt Italian Restaurant, Bi-Rite Electrical, The Sure Thing Perfumes and Fragrances, and Frank’s Restaurant who all generously provided raffle prizes.” “A special thanks, also, to Daphne Sneddon who – once again – donated her popular cushions for the raffle, which she hand-made herself.” “Thanks also to Fairfield RSL who donated their newly renovated Sapphire Room for this worthwhile cause. “
