SCHOOLS IN FAIRFIELD RECEIVE 387 COMPUTERSPosted November 13, 2009 | Tags: Digital Education Revolution
“The investment by the Rudd Government is a vital step towards creating a world class education system for Australia and delivering a Digital Education Revolution,” Mr Bowen said. Through the fund the Rudd Government has provided grants to, Prairiewood High School to purchase 171 computers, while Fairfield High School will receive 216 computers. “This funding represents an enormous boost to the local school community and demonstrates the Government’s commitment to ensuring quality education,” Mr Bowen said. “The computers will ensure that our kids are learning with 21st century technology for the jobs of tomorrow”. All secondary schools in Fairfield have been given the opportunity to apply for funding to bring them to a 1:2 computer-to-student ratio, including funding for ongoing costs. Future funding to enable schools to reach a 1:1 ratio will be provided through a national partnership agreement with state and territory education departments. Funding agreements have also been established with Catholic and Independent education authorities to meet this objective. “This will enable every student in Fairfield in years 9 through to 12 to be able to incorporate information technology into their education,” Mr Bowen said. “I would like to congratulate Prairiewood High School and Fairfield High School for their successful applications”.
